Handling state and federal cases nationwide
Ashley Fantz heads the civil case unit of The Mittelstadt Firm. She was a Peabody-winning investigative journalist for more than two decades, including 14 years at CNN. She can find any document, no matter how obscure, and convince even the most reluctant witness to talk. Ashley is an expert at analyzing complex information and crafting a persuasive narrative. Her CNN investigation “Destroyed” revealed that police nationwide were destroying evidence in rape cases and mishandling investigations, in turn robbing victims and suspects of due process. "Destroyed" inspired numerous reforms, including new laws and investigative protocols. Ashley is trained in trauma-informed interviewing, backgrounding and civil procedure. She lectures on ethical investigations at universities and to professional legal groups.
Ashley is also a member of the Fulton County District Attorney’s Conviction Integrity Review Committee. It reviews cases where there is evidence of actual innocence, prosecutor or law enforcement misconduct, or other factors undermining the integrity of a conviction.
